Mindfulness is a mental state of awareness, openness and focus. ACT is a research-based method of developing psychological flexibility through mindfulness. If people are working in a busy or pressured role, ACT Mindfulness can help keep them focused and on track.

We can use mindfulness to “wake up,” connect with ourselves, and appreciate the fullness of each moment of life. We can use it to improve our self-knowledge—to learn more about how we feel and think and react. We can use it to connect deeply with the people we care about, including ourselves. And we can use it to consciously influence our own behaviour and increase our range of responses to the world we live in. It is the art of living consciously—a profound way to enhance psychological resilience and increase life satisfaction.

Easy to learn and apply, mindfulness skills can rapidly and effectively help people to:

ACT

There’s a simple acronym that encapsulates the entire model. The acronym is—surprise, surprise!—ACT:

  • A = Accept your thoughts and feelings, and be present.
  • C = Choose a valued direction.
  • T = Take action.
